After an extended period of time during which I simply couldn't trust Gmail's spam filter to Do The Right Thing, I'm happy to report that for the last few weeks it has been performing exceptionally well.
This all began back in January when I asked Did Gmail's Spam Filtering Freak Out This Week? and followed that up with Gmail Spam Filtering Update after exchanging a bit of mail with a Googler who worked on Gmail. But ever since then it's still been a little twitchy, and I'd just decided to accept that and move on.
But at some point in the last couple weeks it finally turned the corner. I can't recall a single false positive I've seen this week and the false negative rate has been remarkably low as well.

I noticed that too and for a second thought that spammers finally gave up. Well, this is the next best thing I suppose.
Hey, Jeremy I have been a long time lover of Gmail, but after Yahoo came out with onesearch my mobile/cell switched it's homepage to that and I find yahoo mail on my mobile awesome !
Just for reference.

That's great to hear. OneSearch has a lot of fans based on what I've heard. If I ever get a non-lame mobile phone, I'll have to check it out.
I still have a few false positives, but nothing I cannot handle. Since switching to use google as a mail server as well, I get so few spam mails compared to before that I now can go through them once a week or so and check for false positives.
Who works on Yahoo! Mail spam filters?
Those need some serious work.
You realize that I'm not going to actually post their names, right?
Yeah, but now days yahoo mails spam filering is not working fine. I have 2-3 yahoo mail accounts, on all mail accounts I am getting lot of spam/virus mesages. On the other hand two weeks back I sent a mail from one yahoo account to other yahoo account. I got it in bulk folder.
Gmail spam control is not effective..
I have been having tough timw with it for a while now
It could be that spammers attract spammers.
Just a thought.
