You'd think I was giving out free money or something.
They're not pre-IPO shares, just gmail invites.
It's funny. Almost nobody asked me for an account until I mentioned it on a mailing list earlier today. Now I've probably sent out 20 invites in 10 minutes.
A few smart cookies assumed I had some invites stashed away when I first talked of spamming my gmail account (thanks for all the "spam", btw). I purposely didn't mention invites because I wanted to see how long they'd last if I didn't.
The answer: way, way longer than expected.
Now I guess I need to be selective or something. If I was greedy, I'd just run a dutch auction on eBay or something. But I won't. Direct PayPal is so much easier!
Just kidding.
Unless I'm not.
I figure that this post will pretty much clear out what remains of my invite quota.
Update: Yeah, that was pretty effective.

Yep, Google folks were told to avoid giving accounts to competitors, specifically Yahoo! and Hotmail folks.

How often do you get new invites? And does that depend on anything (like how often you use your gmail account, how fast you skip your invites, how long time you have had your account, how many mails you send or...)
