I kinda suspected this day might come:
...after four years as an independent contractor, I accepted a full-time job with Yahoo!. This isn't as big of a change as it sounds. For much of the past four years my work on Nutch had been in-part funded by Yahoo! (and Overture before they were acquired by Yahoo!). I'm still primarily working from home, and, so far, entirely working on open-source stuff: Lucene, Hadoop and Nutch.
Welcome aboard, Doug!

Thanks, Jeremy! BTW, you have an old url for Nutch. The project's now at http://lucene.apache.org/nutch/. And Hadoop is at http://lucene.apache.org/hadoop/.
Congrats to Yahoo! and to Doug. I've been a huge fan of Doug since we worked together at Grand Central and I'm surrounded daily by former Excite folks who sing his praises. Maybe now Doug and I can manage to get one of those long-promised bike rides in :-)
Great to hear this - lots of ex-Excite people at Y! too. :) Welcome Doug.
Very cool! I'm doing a lot with Lucene and probably Nutch, too, soon.
Great news.
Having used Lucene since 2003 in Kelkoo (bough by Yahoo! in 2004), I know what Doug already brought us, and I'm sure he can do a lot more.
Now, with all these great people from the search arena with us (like Dr. Ricardo Baeza-Yates), let's shine :-)
We are looking for Lucene/Nutch consultant. Any ideas?
