I'm heading to London at the end of the week to spend some time at the BBC and attend the Open Tech 2005 Conference, thanks largely to Ben Metcalfe of Backstage fame (among other things). In fact, I see that he just wrote about it too.
In some of the email we've exchanged, I tossed out the idea of a Geek Dinner on Friday night. I don't know what the venue would be and would rather rely on local recommendations--preferably near the Open Tech conference.
According to the site:
OpenTech 2005 will take place on July 23rd at Imperial College's Reynolds Building, part of the Charing Cross hospital campus in Hammersmith, London.
If you're interested in attending, please leave a comment with your e-mail address or mail me. And if you've got a suggestion for somewhere to eat--all the better!
As a bonus, it looks like Chis DiBona will be in London too. I wonder if he'll be anywhere near the same place?
Update: Check out the official Geek Dinner site where Lee is helpig to coordinate things. Excellent!

A good idea; I'm going along to OpenTech as well. Hammersmith has all the usual suspects, such as Ask, Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge etc which could be good but I don't know it well enough to suggest a great place; guess it depends on peoples budgets and tastes.
I for one would definitely be up for another Geek Dinner. I could recommend places in Fulham (or of course the Texas Embassy again but that's miles away) but don't know Hammersmith at all.
Myself and Ben Milleare would be up for meeting up on the friday for something JZ!
We are both going to the event on the Sat. As for which restaurant, there are so many to choose from! I've been to plenty around central London which I could suggest plus some in zones a little bit out of central. It depends what types of food people want to eat, I don't mind!
I'll be there as well, and my pal Zaheda may join us. I'll leave the restaurant up to you?
I'm definitely off to OpenTech 2005, but unfortunately I probably won't be able to make it to the geek dinner on Friday.
I'm looking forward to Saturday however.
