If my mailbox is any indication, at least. Apparently their husbands go on long business trips and never have time to "satisfy" them.
Here's the funny thing. If my inbox is any indicator, I won't do a much better job than their husbands to. You see, it seems that I'm also in need of Viagra and numerous anti-depressants and pain medication.
In other words, I must be pretty messed up. But these housewives? Wow, they must be really lonely.
Maybe they just want access to all that inexpensive Windows software that seems to be all the rage in the Asian spam I get.
Isn't spam fun?

Almost as fun as the yahoo Y!Q related matches... :)
fun, really. Good point
I have a "free" Email website that gets so much SPAM I can't use it. There is no filter and I received about 20-30 SPAM messages a day, if the Website is working. What gripes me is that I pay dues to a non-profit organization, the account came with the membership, and they tell me I can "upgrade" the Email account. If I do that, I will be paying twice to get SPAMmed at an account which I won't be able to use.
At least with my Yahoo account 99% of the junk goes to the bulk mail folder which lets me read the mail I want to see. I can inspect and then delete Ashley's hot body, etc., at an appropriate moment.

Spam is fun. But I can't await SPIT. If you read stories such as http://barlow.typepad.com/barlowfriendz/2005/01/the_intimate_pl.html you start to wonder (a) who is going to contact you (b) with what kind of offers once that VOIP thing takes off. Although that example does not depict a classic case of spam it is a prime example for the randomness you should expect.

No.
Yahoo mail users: Goto "Mail Options" - "Span Protection" and choose the option "Immediately delete spam messages upon receipt."
I know that everyone knows it. But unfortunately they hardly use it because they think that even important e-mail messages (may be, one in thousand) will be classified as spam. Believe me, the advantages outweigh the minor concerns. Don't forget that you can also block an email address (or even a domain name!) if you are getting too much spam from that address. I like yahoo and gmail because they are using one of the best filters in the world. I am using Yahoo email account as my primary email address since 19 March 99. I mention it on online registrations and publish it along with my comments. And I still don't get a single spam message in my Inbox!
Gmail Users: Settings – Forwarding and POP - Forward a copy of incoming mail to – Type your company or primary email address like you@company.com (or create a filter like shantanu.surname+important@gmail.com forward it to me@company.com
You need not only Viagra to visit her, but also must wear Rolex. :)
Jeremy,
I read your blog regularly as one of many sources for my own (The Internet Stock Blog), and I just wanted to say: it's terrific! This was a funny and well-written piece. Thanks!
David
The way I figure it, they want me to refinance my mortage so I can have enough money for the viagra I need for all of these lonely housewives.
Thanks for the tip Shantanu Oak,
Up until recently I have been seeing stuff misdirected into the bulk folder, but that issue has apparently been corrected somehow. Maybe I can start using the "immediately delete SPAM ... " option now.
I recently inadvertently installed the Yahoo toolbar. I don't like toolbars as a general rule, but I left it there. Yesterday I got some pop-ups on my start-up page, so I went to the "anti-spy" button and deleted a trojan it said was on my machine. The pop-ups went away; it was almost too easy.
I updated my anti-malware programs and my virus scanner and scanned my system; everything seems to be OK.
Is there a way to minimize the Yahoo toolbar? I want to keep it, but I want to free up the space it is taking on my screen.
Offtopic (apologies):
Yahoo to create European HQ in Ireland
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/02/15/yahoo_creates_400_irish_jobs/
Jeremy - i thought that there was already a Yahoo Euro HQ in London? Care to clarify, or do a blogpost about this.
Thanks.
Now you've got me thinking... a little Perl script to read the contents of my (spam free) inbox... extract keywords... rank them and order by value according to overture... automagically create the perfect spam just for me.
Then see if I fall for it.
Alternatively, maybe I should just go get some real friends.
Don't fall for it. Everytime I show up at one of the housewives houses the husband is either home or I'm so nervous that he'll return soon that the viagra doesn't seem to work :-)
