Next Wednesday I'm flying to New York to spend Thursday at the Yahoo! Hot Jobs office in Manhattan. I fly back home on Friday morning unless I can't get everything done on Thursday. Then I'll push back a few hours, I guess. Amusingly, the hotel room costs more than the flight does. Yeay! for cheap air fares on the SJC to JFK route.

Anyway... Are there any New Yorkers reading my blog who want to meet up for dinner on Thursday night? I'll be working in the vicinity of West 31st and 9th Ave if that makes much of a difference.

Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking. If I had a fan club I wouldn't need too ask, would I?

Such is life.

Alas, I'm flying home from ApacheCon on Thursday and won't be back until midnight. If only the fan club newsletter had come out before I booked my plane tickets.

Ah ha!

That may be the way to kickstart a fan club: beging publishing a fan club newsletter. The rest should follow naturally. :-)

I really amuse myself sometimes.

Well, I could drive the 10 hours...

Btw Jeremy, when I last stayed in NYC I found a decent hotel for 99$/night! Just go to Jersey and there are several decent hotels for a reasonable price :)

Well, I would but...I love Google and use PostgreSQL (and HATE mysql), so I think there'd probably be a fight...

Yeah, I'm in NYC, I'll shoot you an email with my contact info and such. Also if you're up for it, I can give you the classic (in my opinion) bar tour of NYC - McSorleys, Village Idiot, Red Rocks, etc.

Well, if you're not paying for the hotel, it isn't a big deal now, is it. Plus there is something to be said about hitting the asphalt right out of your hotel room. If you're gonna be in the city, might as well stay in it and enjoy it.

I highly recommend The Ear Inn
http://www.eonline.com/Features/Features/Nymap/ear.html

Not exactly the most well known bars in the world, but that's part of its' charm. Excellent inexpensive food (On halloween, we had 8 people eating for ~$80 for food. The alchohol was more.). Then again, I'm a 'dive bar' kind of person.

I'd also recommend 'Hero Boy'. It's on 9th ave in between 37th and 38th. It's more of a lunch type place, but they have Heros and other Italian food. You'll need a nap afterwards.

I'm a regular reader, and live in NYC, but I won't be around that evening.
