Last night it was rainy in Orlando. This morning I headed over to Seminole Lake Gliderport to see about at least flying an area check flight before things got going today. No such luck.
Cloud bases were at about 1,000 feet (pattern altitude) and there was a variable 5-15 knot west crosswind. It was better than when the alarm went off this morning and the wind was blowing by the hotel at about 25 knots. But still. I've seen the sun for a whopping 5 minutes so far.
Bah! We have more sunshine back in the Bay Area today I bet.
Oh, well. The weekend looks decent. I'll be back there to fly on Saturday morning. I hope to get my area check done early and then take up their DG-300 for a few hours. We'll see how it goes.
I did spend a few hours checking out the gliderport, walking the 3,000 ft bt 200 ft grass runway (a beautiful sight), taking pictures, and meeting some of the locals. I'll try to get the pics up later today.
Update: I've posted the pictures. Sorry, no captions yet. (I seem to never get around to it.)

> Sunshine State, My Ass!
Actually, isn't your ass supposed to be where the sun *doesn't* shine?
It seems like I'm seeing a lot of recycled contest numbers in your pictures. Your 304C is 1M, right? I remember that belonging to Tim Mara. SM I thought was John Seymour. The N-numbers aren't matching those names, however (did you know Google will match an N-number? cool!).
I've gotta get back to flying again...
If you see any Harris Hill members at Seminole Lake, tell 'em Brian Lalor said hey! :-)
At least it wasn't thunderstorms, lightning, torrential downpours and 40 degrees.
Someone has to keep you down to earth.. with all the flying you do.
So I take it its still not spring in CT..
*ducks to avoid more random flying objects*
Yes, I know. I'll stop once she moves to a warmer climate. :-)
