At least that's what Tim O'Reilly told us. I've been so busy talking with interesting people that I haven't had a chance to read blogs since I got here. So I don't know who else is writing about it--aside from some TrackBacks.

It may not be "secret", but it's surely "elitist" and "a threat to freedom". At least that's the impression one gets from the juvenile, jealous whining of those who didn't get invited.
I'm glad you're representing the smart people, Jeremy. You da man.
Well, it certainly sounds like quite a party. You gotta hand it to O'Reilly - he knows his stuff. And his camps. Yeaaah.
I wouldn't call it a "threat to freedom", but it certainly *is* elitist, Steve.
Perhaps it is elitist.. but think of what the purpose was.. to get a bunch of smart people talking together.. As much as we all may wish for it.. we're not all the smartest people around.
I'm sure many very smart ones were missed on the list.. perhaps next time O'Reilly ought to consider asking participants to 'nominate' others.
Those of us who were unable to go could pass our invitation to someone else who we thought would be a good addition to the gathering, so we were able to nominate people in a way. Given the short notice, I'm sure a large percentage of the people there were given their invitation by someone else.
