I've been bad. My inbox at work was over 800 messages this morning. I've spent most of the day removing, sorting, and responding. It's exhausting in a way, but it feels good. I'm down to 31.
Of course, the last 20 are always the ones that seem to require 1-2 hours effort each to deal with. You know, it's the last 10% taking 90% of the time...
In summary: please don't send me anymore e-mail. Well, not until I'm caught up, at least.
My goal is to keep it below 20 messages for the next few weeks. Let's see how well I really do.

Wow, Jeremy. That's never happened. But I found it neat. You just posted this blog entry while I was reading your blog entry that was posted just before this one. Interesting.
Will it be the same 20 for the next few weeks? ;)
I'm horrible about that too. At one point at Y!, I was over 1,000 messages in my inbox. I noticed what the problem was at that point - whenever I got one of those messages that has to be dealt with, but I don't want to for whatever reason, it serves as a "wall". The wall stops me from going behind it in the inbox until I address that issue. Eventually, you end up with months old messages that don't even get seen until you jump over the walls.
I'm better now, and just zeroed out my inbox a couple days ago myself. :)
