The really sad part of the whole thing is that French Fries were actually invented in Paris, Texas not France. I read both your MySQL text search and freedom fries posts with interest. My suspicion is that MySQL reflects an area of expertise for you. Politics obviously does not. To the extent that you blog for the interest of your readers as opposed to venting your spleen I would suggest you stick with MySQL. In that area your comments tend to be interesting, insightful and valuable.
As long as such strange incidents like this story of peace t-shirt could happen I am convinced that US representatives are propaganda driven and self-conscious. And therefore I sympathize with Jeremy and not with such eloquent speaking Johns! Words are weapons, but they should be used in order to fight for peace and freedom - not as a medium of propaganda fueling the war. Speaking this in the awareness of our own younger history - germany has learned it's lesson.

As Keith already pointed out, the French would probably be happy if we stop calling them "French Fries", since they aren't French.
But the real reason I'm posting is a pet peeve of mine -- since when has it been the job of our elected representatives to make our kids learn? Learning is not something passive that is done to children; learning only happens through active acquiring of knowledge, and we have eliminated any barriers preventing kids from learning by inventing the printing press (and now the Internet). There is absolutely nobody other than kids and their parents to blame when these kids grow up illiterate and innumerate.
The whole idea on changing French toast and French fries to Freedom is ridiculous. Do you really think that it will change the French government into going to war just because this Senator wants nothing to do with France? Well as a French native I can only say WHO cares about what you want to call your fries and toast. They were not French to begin with. That will not change anything. We don't want to go to war, so be it. Why can't the Senators accept that? We were once your allies but that doesn't mean that America is just going to Bully France into going to war.

Don't think that french people are having a hard time because french fries are no longer french for us... Second, even if you did this, your ballod would have been deposited in a bag and then buried in the forest.
I find it interesting that Bush accused Gore of taking votes for himself and having them buried.
