We just had an hones to god thunderstorm roll thru the Bay Area about 1.5 hours ago. Very cool. I wish we had more thurnderstorms around here. Having grown up in the midwest, I really miss 'em.

Great memories. I remember thunderstorms in the Tenessee valley. Amazing, huge, how shaking thunderstorms.
From later in life I remember fondly the hail storms when I lived in Nepal. I had a simple plank sided room with a bare tin roof. The sound of the hail was deafening. And very comforting.
I love a good thunderstorm... We have them too rarely on this side of the pond :-(
Some of the best thunderstorms I ever saw were in the Netherlands in summer after a long period of sunny days (climate a bit similar to US mid-west maybe?)
When I moved to Daytona Beach in '97 from Santa Cruz, I was amazed at how strong they were. I was accumstomed to them from spending time in the California and Nevada desert. You see them from time to time and can even smell them coming. However, they had nothing coming on the storms in Florida! You could see one miles off rolling in, and before it's even 5 miles away, it sounds like Beirut! Incredible stuff!
Cheers,
Terrence
We had thunder and lightning this weekend -- in a snowstorm. Very very odd.
