So I've arrived in San Diego for the conference, and guess what. Unlike last year, all rooms do not have broadband connections. Only rooms on floor 9 and higher do. Granted, I didn't ask when I made the reservation, but they all had them last year. (I'm on the 2nd floor for those keeping score at home.)
Grr.
To switch would cost $50/night, so I'll do dial-up until the 802.11b network is active. In other news, the weather here is great (as usual). Time to get fixing my presentations.
Derek is on the 9th floor, so he's got the good stuff. Who else got screwed?

Oh yeah, and if you think it's odd that your junkbuster proxy is failing, it might just be that "localhost" doesn't resolve to what you think it resolves to anymore, and you should probably hard-code 127.0.0.1, cuz they just happen to be running a proxy on the IP address that it DOES resolve to, so your request will get answered, but without the ad-filtering.
That shit tripped me up for about an hour.
I'm on 11th and is feeding off someone elses access point. I can't complain. :-)
I had brought a linksys so I could give access to whoever would be around me; but this is even better!
I really hate to tell you this, but, since it's been over a month, maybe it's lost its sting:
I was on the third floor of the north (I think) tower and had good connectivity all week long.
