Reply to John Mark on Desay 501 - if you mean the DS 5701 desay I recently bought this from Radio Shack on a trip to the States. Tried it out over there and seemed to work fine on R1&2 discs but got it home and didnt like R2 so assume it somehow reset itself!?
Have found the hack and have tried it and works fine
1. Open tray
2. Press setup
2. Go across to 'preferences'
3. key in 1, 3, 8 then 9
4. Choose your code using arrow keys (up/down) - choose '0' for multi region.

Sorry you have to have a remote...no other way, so go spend the 25bucks and get one. There are two ways.
Way #1
1. Open the tray
2. Press 1379 on your remote, a screen will come up for Region.
3. Choose the region u want or choose 9 for region free.
4. Press Stop....Done
Way #2
1. Hit Setup and go to Preferences then scroll to the far right.
2. Press 1379 on your remote.
3. Choose the region u want or choose 9 for region free.
4. Press Stop....Done

To make a polaroid pdm-0725 region you need the remote control.open the tray and enter 1379 .A screen comes up and then press the play button until the desired region you require comes up .9 is region free.Press stop and it should play ok.

Connect the machine to the mains but do not power on, also ensure there is no disc inserted
Press and hold down both the Dimmer and Reverse Skip buttons on the front panel and then press the Power ON

Hold the Dimmer & Reverse Skip buttons for a few seconds and the Display should change to "___ ___ ___ ___" from "NAKAMICHI". Wait for a minimum of 5 seconds (at this stage you're not pushing the Dimmer & Reverse Skip buttons any longer), then using the handset's numerical keys press 1, 9, 9, 9
The display should now show: A-00 D-02, D-02 indicates Region 2
To change the region code, punch in the new code (i.e. 01 for Region 1, 03 for Region 3, etc.) and after that press the ENTER button (located next to the numbers keypad on the Handset). The display should now change (slowly) to D-01 (or whichever new region you have assigned to, as in (i.e.) above
Turn the Power, OFF and the machine is set to the new Region.

I used a method posted in some site to hack my DAV S550. Also works with the DAV C770.
It's using a laptop with an IR port.
1. Download Winsamp here: http://www.veg.nildram.co.uk/remote13.zip
This program will emulate an IR remote on your laptop
2. Extract the package onto a bootable DOS floppy disk. (this step is very important, I tried to use the software directly out of Windows before, but without success)
3. Download this IR code file and place it in the same directory as the package above. This file holds the five necessary IR codes converted to the format used by winsamp.exe. http://www.selen.org/files/REMOTE.TXT
4. Boot up your PC from the floppy disk and run winsamp.exe. If your IRDA port doesn't appear as COM2 you may override this by using an appropriate command line switch. For example, use COM1 by running 'winsamp C1'.
5. Press the 'r' key to load up the codes into winsamp.
6. Turn on the Player.
7. Hold down "Display" and "Stop" and and while keeping them pressed turn the volume knob to the right. Service IN mode should appear. (there's no need to hold "Prev" and it doesn't need to show "Mecha Lock", when it shows "SERVICE IN" you're ready to go)
8. Make sure your DVD player is in "Service IN" mode and your IRDA port is within range.
9. Run the IR codes from 1 to 5 by pressing Enter on each corresponding button.
10. Your DVD player should now display "DATA RESET".
11. Press the power button on the player remote.
12. Plug it out for 5-10 seconds.
13. Start it again, and play your region 1 ect. discs !!

1. Ensure disc tray is empty.
2. Press "Repeat" (this is on the bottom right of the remote control and shouldn't be confused with Repeat A/B which is on the left) on the R/C then enter 5,7,5,3,8
3. The number "2" (current region code) should appear in the top left of the screen.
4. Quickly press the number "9" button on the R/C, for "multi region".
6. Wait 20 seconds, then power off, then on again
can any one help me. I have problem. i bought an LG dvd but it cannot not play american version dvds. Technicians here are telling me to part with a few bucks so that they can be able to decode it.

Can someone walk me through chapter info entry on the dvd player program menu? I need it as part of a workaround hack that makes my apex 1110w region free. The hack renders the arrows and play button useless so you can't start the movie without entering through the program setting. The hack works, and I've had success figuring it out up to chapter 09 on the movie, but now I'm lost. I don't know how to make it play the double-digit scenes. (Entering "10" reads same as "01" and the film restarts.) THANKS!

GAAG, here's what I found for you. Hope it works.
"Sony DVP-NS325
A “One for All remote” is required.
1. hold magic button until dvd button on remote flashes twice
2. press 994
3. press magic button
4. press 1891
5. repeat steps 1-3,
6. then press 2552
7. repeat steps 1-3 again
8. then press 0953
9. repeat steps 1-3 again
10. then press 2214
11. repeat steps 1-3
12. then press 0795
13. Now, put player on standby.
14. Press 12345 (success will be displayed on dvd)
15. Press 12345 a second time (dvd goes into standby)
DVD is multi region active."

The disc should start playing from chapter one, but once the movie starts there is nothing you can do or change

Sony & JVC players generally must have a hardware hack to be rendered multi-region. I recommend www.jvb.nl for best results. If you also require your player to be VCR-Friendly (no Macrovision analog copy guard), check their website and obtain a Panasonic or Pioneer player.

For all those with a LG LH CX 245 DVD player...
To get multiregion support
Follow this instructions exactly:
Step 1
Download the file lg5000.zip by clicking on the link:

(If you have any problems downloading the file e-mail this person and she will send it to you: nunomiranda80@hotmail.com)
Step 2
Unzip the file lg5000.zip. It will create a directory folder called RMTM0000.
Step 3
You need a CD Writer to write a new disk with the files you've just unziped (RMTM0000 folder).
Step 4
You need a CD burning software (like Easy CD Creator, Nero, CD Clone, HP RecordNow, etc....) to make a Data disc.
Step 5
I've read not to use a 700mb capacity CD-R, but mine worked just fine! For information, I used a Memorex CD-R 700MB 24x. This speed (24x) I think is the key to success, not the capacity or size of the CD-R.
Step 6
Using the CD burning software, create a Data disc and add the directory folder RMTM0000. That's all you need !
*** When burning the disc do not use DirectCD ***
Step 7
Switch "On" your DVD player and TV and insert the newly burned disc. When prompted select "0" for multiregion and then ENTER. Power off and... it's done!

Slight Issues:
The colours, when booting the DVD player, may be fuzzy or wrong. This will sort it self out and is nothing to worry about.
The player takes slightly more time changing titles. The playback however is great.

Looking for a region hack for a Sony DVP-S525D player purchased in Australia.
The two codes from the net tried, one being the "Title-Clear-Power" to bring up a menu to select DOES NOT WORK! It simply brings up a diagnostics menu to VIEW settings, not change them. The other code about the "Pause..sequence of numbers...also DOES NOT WORK on my machine.

I've had the same problems with DVD's I purchased from UK to Australia. The only way around it is to use software such as DVD Shrink 3.2 and backup the disc on to a blank. The software allows you to remove the region code. Thus allowing you to play in any DVD player. Hopes this helps.

This is going to seem like a stupid question.
A couple of years ago, I bought a Zenith DVD recorder (its in storage, dont know the model offhand, but it will be delivered from storage next week). I used this recorder to put many of my old VHS tapes on DVD. Now I have these DVDs, and they only play on my Zenith, on no other DVD! Anyone know what I can do? And why is this? Thanks,

1. Power on the player with no disk in the drive.
2. Wait for the "No Disc" message to appear.
3. Press Pause on the Remote.
4. Enter 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9 on the Remote (the word COdE or FF appears on the
display).
5. Enter 0 on the Remote (0 = All Regions, 1 = Region 1, 2 = Region 2, etc.).
6. Press Pause on the Remote.
7. Power the player off, wait 30 seconds and then power back on.
NB: If the above code fails to work then once the player has displayed the "No
disc" message press Stop before entering the above code.
Checking Firmware version:
1. Press Setup on the Remote.
2. Select TV Aspect.
3. Place the cursor on 16:9 wide.
4. Enter 1, 3, 9, 7, 1, 3, 9 on the Remote.
5. Press Enter on the Remote.
6. Press Setup to clear the information once read.
VCD Enable:

1. Power on the player with no disc in the drive. If the hack doesn't work,
press Stop on the remote before step 2.
2. Press Pause on the remote control.
3. Using the remote control, key in the following: 1, 4, 7, 2 (the characters

I've found a hack for the BUSH DVDAVR12!!!
Simply:
1.Open the disc tray
2.using your remote enter: 1,3,6,9 (These will appear as xxxx on screen)
3.and then press the 0/10 button which will show up as 0 (You have to do this quite quickly.)
4.Close the tray
your player should now be region free!!!
p.s. you can also use this to set your player to a specific region if you want. e.g 1,3,6,9 and then 1 for region 1 :)

Is there any way to "hack" the power saver function so the @#&%!!! player doesn't turn itself off after 15 minutes???
I'm watching a movie, and for example, the phone rings and I pause the DVD... No problem except the stupid screen saver kicks in after 5 minutes (Annoying, but I can live with it) but the REALLY annoying "feature" is after 15 minutes of no button pressing/on pause, etc., the @$#%!!!! player shuts off!!! I called Philips and the nice (but kinda dense) "help-desk" person says there isn't any way to change this function... Maybe, but since she was reading from the manual at first I'm not convinced so I thought I'd ask.

My Audiovox portable DVD player VBP3800 5 inch lcd and moniter system will not stop saying wrong region when a dvd is entered. It worked fine for about 2 months and then I must have somehow changed the region without knowing what I did. Much to my delight, I found a DVD of the band Pulp's live shows. Waited with bated breath until it arrived.
Much to my sorrow, every DVD player I own is region 1 and, though it did not specify this on the seller's site, the Pulp DVD is region 2.
My DVDs are a Toshiba SD-V394SU (DVD/VCR machine) and Matshita BD-MLT UJ-2105 (Sony Blu-ray enabled DVD-ROM drive).
I'd be a happy human if someone more technically proficient than I could help me make either or both multi-region.

I have an Onkyo DV-CP702 DVD/CD 6 disc player and all of sudden, the middle of playing a DVD, it started playing in black and white. Now even the power on banned is in back and white. Itried both the S-vidio output and the RCA output, same results. Audio seems to be working OK. Any ideas?

JB HiFi couldn't give a stuff about it - they said 'contact soniq for that sort of stuff' so it's going back to them.

Hi Jeremy I'd like some help to fix a new problem. Parental control appears for the first time on my Zenith ZND400 DVD player , and i can't start a movie whitout a code. I never used a code before, and i've had the player for many years now. Is there a way enter a code or avoid this function ?

I have a magnavox dvd/vcr player that I bought off ebay.
The model number is MDVDVCR5.
Unfortunately it won't play the dvds that I have bought from the US.
Does anyone know how I can set the player to be region-free?

Although the exact model isn't listed the hack does work (just tried it myself).
ï‚· Ensure you are on the DVD source of the TV.
(DVD will be on the screen in front of you)
ï‚· Make sure you have not loaded a DVD/ CD into the TV
ï‚· When you see No Disc displayed on the top left hand corner, on the remote
control, press the numbers 9 7 3 5
ï‚· Scroll to Region, press R/Hand arrow select Region 0 and press OK or ENTER
ï‚· Select region (0 for all regions)
ï‚· Then scroll down to EXIT SETUP or EXIT MENU and press OK or ENTER on the

ï‚· Then switch the TV off and then switch back on again.

I bought European DVD (region 2)that are no longer available in North America and I cannot read them at home.
I would need the codes to unlock my DVD players
-Diamond Vision #DVDV807-03 (cheapo!)
-Harman Kardon #DVD 22 (the expensive one!!)
If anybody knows the codes to unlock these things, my kids will be sooooo happy, you just can`t imagine!!
