Reply to John Mark on Desay 501 - if you mean the DS 5701 desay I recently bought this from Radio Shack on a trip to the States. Tried it out over there and seemed to work fine on R1&2 discs but got it home and didnt like R2 so assume it somehow reset itself!?
Have found the hack and have tried it and works fine
1. Open tray
2. Press setup
2. Go across to 'preferences'
3. key in 1, 3, 8 then 9
4. Choose your code using arrow keys (up/down) - choose '0' for multi region.

Sorry you have to have a remote...no other way, so go spend the 25bucks and get one. There are two ways.
Way #1
1. Open the tray
2. Press 1379 on your remote, a screen will come up for Region.
3. Choose the region u want or choose 9 for region free.
4. Press Stop....Done
Way #2
1. Hit Setup and go to Preferences then scroll to the far right.
2. Press 1379 on your remote.
3. Choose the region u want or choose 9 for region free.
4. Press Stop....Done

To make a polaroid pdm-0725 region you need the remote control.open the tray and enter 1379 .A screen comes up and then press the play button until the desired region you require comes up .9 is region free.Press stop and it should play ok.

Connect the machine to the mains but do not power on, also ensure there is no disc inserted
Press and hold down both the Dimmer and Reverse Skip buttons on the front panel and then press the Power ON

Hold the Dimmer & Reverse Skip buttons for a few seconds and the Display should change to "___ ___ ___ ___" from "NAKAMICHI". Wait for a minimum of 5 seconds (at this stage you're not pushing the Dimmer & Reverse Skip buttons any longer), then using the handset's numerical keys press 1, 9, 9, 9
The display should now show: A-00 D-02, D-02 indicates Region 2
To change the region code, punch in the new code (i.e. 01 for Region 1, 03 for Region 3, etc.) and after that press the ENTER button (located next to the numbers keypad on the Handset). The display should now change (slowly) to D-01 (or whichever new region you have assigned to, as in (i.e.) above
Turn the Power, OFF and the machine is set to the new Region.

I used a method posted in some site to hack my DAV S550. Also works with the DAV C770.
It's using a laptop with an IR port.
1. Download Winsamp here: http://www.veg.nildram.co.uk/remote13.zip
This program will emulate an IR remote on your laptop
2. Extract the package onto a bootable DOS floppy disk. (this step is very important, I tried to use the software directly out of Windows before, but without success)
3. Download this IR code file and place it in the same directory as the package above. This file holds the five necessary IR codes converted to the format used by winsamp.exe. http://www.selen.org/files/REMOTE.TXT
4. Boot up your PC from the floppy disk and run winsamp.exe. If your IRDA port doesn't appear as COM2 you may override this by using an appropriate command line switch. For example, use COM1 by running 'winsamp C1'.
5. Press the 'r' key to load up the codes into winsamp.
6. Turn on the Player.
7. Hold down "Display" and "Stop" and and while keeping them pressed turn the volume knob to the right. Service IN mode should appear. (there's no need to hold "Prev" and it doesn't need to show "Mecha Lock", when it shows "SERVICE IN" you're ready to go)
8. Make sure your DVD player is in "Service IN" mode and your IRDA port is within range.
9. Run the IR codes from 1 to 5 by pressing Enter on each corresponding button.
10. Your DVD player should now display "DATA RESET".
11. Press the power button on the player remote.
12. Plug it out for 5-10 seconds.
13. Start it again, and play your region 1 ect. discs !!
SONY PS2 latest slim European model.
DVD unlock hack needed.

I bought a Centrios 1611505 Portable DVD player in Toronto on Tuesday this week. The salesman assured me that it was 'Multi-region'...... Guess what! I am now back home in Scotland and it plays anything except Region 2 DVD's. Can anybody help me please?

does anyone have a mulit regional hack for a Sony DAV-DZ100 Home Theatre system
1. Ensure disc tray is empty.
2. Press "Repeat" (this is on the bottom right of the remote control and shouldn't be confused with Repeat A/B which is on the left) on the R/C then enter 5,7,5,3,8
3. The number "2" (current region code) should appear in the top left of the screen.
4. Quickly press the number "9" button on the R/C, for "multi region".
6. Wait 20 seconds, then power off, then on again
can any one help me. I have problem. i bought an LG dvd but it cannot not play american version dvds. Technicians here are telling me to part with a few bucks so that they can be able to decode it.
is there a way i can personally make it play the dvds.

I desperately need to know how to make my Sony DAV-S300 either multi-region or region 1. I have tried following the steps that others have posted on this site but I cannot make it work. For a start I can not put it in 'Stand By' mode. It is either on or off. Is there not a simpler way??

Re Sony DAV-DZ100 Home Theatre system. Alan Parkinson said that you start by pressing Repeat on bottom RHS of remote control. This doesn't correspond to my UK model remote control.
