Jeremy's Bomber Pictures

There were two WWII bombers on display at the Findlay airport for the first week of June: a B-24 and a B-29. A co-worker and I stopped by to check them out and snap some pictures.

The Pictures

All of the thumbnails shown here are links to larger versions of the image. The larger versions have been sized to be viewable on a 640x480 display (or larger).

b24-1-320.jpg (14850 bytes)
Check out the art work on the B-24.

b24-front-320.jpg (13687 bytes)
I'm not sure why I have two virtually identical pictures... Hm.

b24-side-320.jpg (13281 bytes)
This is a very large aircraft. The interesting thing about the B-24 is that the landing gear folds horizontally into the wings.

b24-tail-320.jpg (12745 bytes)
The tail of this plane is simply enormous.

b29-cockpit-320.jpg (15325 bytes)
The cockpit of the B-29. The pilots and front gunner had quite a good view of what was coming at them.

b29-front-full-320.jpg (11389 bytes)
Compare the B-29 to the truck and people in front of it. It's just plain huge.

b29-head-on-320.jpg (9611 bytes)
A similar shot, head-on.

b29-prop-320.jpg (13550 bytes)
The force required to pull this plan through the air was provide by four massive props. At a glance, they appear to be 10-12 feet across.

b29-tail-320.jpg (12143 bytes)
And a tail shot of the B-29.

both-front-side-320.jpg (11524 bytes)
Both of these planes, as seen from a distance.

both-side-320.jpg (10534 bytes)
A similar shot with a better view of the B-24.

While we were out at the airport, we got to see one of Marathon's jets take off.
