There was a service a while back that was like this too. I joked around forever with friends that we should create pornflix, and gave up the idea when we saw someone else did it.

Interestingly enough netflix did used to have some adult content, though I think it was mostly softporn. They got some abuse for it and quietly dropped it.

Hi there, I started an adult DVD rental site with a similar premise to Netflix towards the end of last year. There are actually at least 30 companies that specialize in this niche, or at least claim to in their search engine and directory listings. A few of them are extremely popular. My DVD rental site is a bit smaller than the hard hitters, while we grow at a comfortable pace until we're completely satisfied with all aspects of our service.

It's a lot of work to maintain a DVD rental site. Companies that only sell merchandise have it much easier - customer places order, you pull it from stock, ship it out and for the most part, you're done. When renting out DVDs, you need complicated, specialized software to distribute the movies fairly. You also need to inspect every item coming in and going out, and cater movie purchases according to the demand of the customers. As if that weren't enough, when it comes to porn, people have very specific tastes. We're working very hard to add to our video inventory, but it's never enough. It's amazing that a person can be perfectly happy with their local video store having maybe 100-200 adult selections to choose from, but online, people want to see triple digits.

As far as playability is concerned, I can't speak for companies that use the paper mailers, but we have no problems. We use plastic boxes to send our DVDs out, and while it costs us much more to ship them out, the net result is twofold. For our customers, their movies always arrive in one piece and they get to watch them right away. For us, we don't lose money due to breakage or damage. All in all, everyone's happy.

Hmm, extra glue on the mailer. Well, I'm pleased to say that most rental members return their DVDs clean and in good condition. Once in a while there might be fingerprints or something, but not usually. Basically, when a new rental customer gets a DVD in the mail and it's in perfect condition, they tend to take additional care in its handling.

I've tried that URent thing too I like it, only takes 2 days to get my dvds and they have more titles than I know what to do with. Plus there was a film I was looking for and I requested it in their forum and they added it to the inventory in less than a week. You don't have to be a paying member to ask questions in their forum, either, which I think is pretty cool. So in my opinion, URent has the best unlimited DVD deal!

This is why I'm anti-pornography. It teaches men that women enjoy being raped and it sexualizes and normalizes sexual violence against women. Porn is also used by pedophiles to educate children and show them how "normal" this type of behavior of adults having sex with children is or to teach children how to imitate the films. Porn certainly doesn't teach men that rape is wrong, it teaches that rape is sexy.

I've had many arguments with people who defend porn, but they don't seem to realise that there is a difference between pornography and erotica. I am not against erotica as defined here:

The people who defend porn will say things like porn is "educational" and you can learn about sex and crap like that, but in reality porn is miseducation, especially if what is being taught is that women enjoy being raped, gang-raped, brutalized, degraded, etc. It is not educational for children to watch porn and learn that that violence and degradation of women is sex.

It is ridiculous that people equate porn with sex as if the two are the same and that if you don't like porn you are a prude, anti-sex person. I'm anti-porn, but I'm certainly not anti-sex. Porn is very harmful to women who wind up with assholes who watch this sort of crap and are stupid enough to believe it is a real representation of sex. And why wouldn't they think that when that's what most of society describes porn as - sex. It validates porn as being representative of how sex really is.

Women are presented as enjoying all sorts of disgusting crap, and granted you might find some women who really will enjoy some of it, however they are a small minority. It is not the majority of women who enjoy this garbage and that women enjoy being treated violently during sex is not a message that men need to be getting off to; considering the prevalance of rape, quite the opposite message is needed.

Reading both articles from a British newspaper, it struck me as odd that they are talking about this problem in France. There are girls/women who are gang-raped in Britain as there are in the United States. Maybe the British authors think that it is happening with more frequency in France, but rape regardless of whether it is gang-rape or rape by one person is still high in the United States.

We always hear the stories about someone who was falsely accused of rape (which is far less of an occurrance than actual rapes), however we don't hear enough about the women who are brutalised this way and what is being done to stop the rapists. Instead movies are made glorifying people like porn publisher Larry Flynt who molested his own daughter. Yet he is portrayed as a hero in the People vs Larry Flynt.

Rape is terrorism against women. It is to keep women "in their place" as subservient to men. This is the terrorism that goes unrecognized by people like President Bush. Sure no buildings are bombed, maybe just abortion clinics, but many women and girls all over this globe (including good old USA - see stats below), are being beaten, sexually exploited, sexually molested, raped, and murdered by men however many people don't recognize this terrorism.

And if you point it out to them you are called a "feminazi" or a "man-hater" which is absolutely absurd considering it is women who are being brutalized by men, not men being brutalized by women. Women are expected to remain silent about all the abuse that is happening to women by men or else women are called man-haters. Well what about the woman-haters who are actually doing the abuse? They get off fine when noone is allowed to talk about them or their abuse. They get off fine when they are represented as victims of women falsely accusing them of rape while ignoring the huge numbers of women who have not been falsely raped but really raped.

Racism is seen as a problem in this country and it rightly should be, but sexism has still to be taken as seriously. People talk about prostitutes as if prostitution is something to be laughed about, as if women aren't being harmed by it. Just last night I heard a guy who made a joke about prostitution. What would he know as it's not his ass that is being traded like a sex slave.
